Claims: (From marcelle.com) The new Flawless Skin-Fusion Concealer is the latest addition to our Flawless line. This lightweight concealer goes on smooth and covers everything from stubborn blemishes, dark circles, and redness. Just like the other Flawless products, its formula contains auto-adapting pigments that fuse with the skin to give it a natural-looking finish without clogging your pores. Available in three shades: Fair, Light to Medium, and Medium to Dark. Ideal for all skin types.
For best results, apply after any Marcelle foundation. Use a small amount to cover any imperfections and blend with your finger or makeup brush.
Hypoallergenic and perfume-free. Paraben-free and oil-free. Tested under dermatological and ophthalmological control.
I love me some Marcelle. Not gonna lie. I have all of their alphabet creams, I have their foundation, eyeshadows, brow products.....the list goes on. So when I saw that they were releasing a new concealer!......I had to have it, I had to try it, I had to have them all. So, I ordered them immediately, (from Shoppers Drug Mart). All three colours.
I made the mistake of not taking pictures of them before opening them. As you can see below, once I had opened them, something happened to the texture of each. They began to separate (and oxidize?) inside of the tubes. All three are acting the same, to some degree, but mostly with the Fair shade. The Light to Medium shade, while still showing some separation, is doing it the least. I have no idea what is actually happening inside with the formula.
I would not consider this complete full coverage, but most definitely a high to very high medium coverage creamy concealer. (I would still need to colour correct my under eye dark circles before hand.)
I found with the consistency of this formula, that you can't dab to apply in any shape or form, whether with fingers or a sponge or a brush....you MUST swipe to apply and blend this product. It has a tendency to dry extremely quick for me, making it impossible to blend with something like a Beauty Blender. Using fingers is my preferred method, for both under eye and blemish concealing.
The packaging, (which is a solid high quality plastic/acrylic), is fairly standard for most creamy concealers, while still looking and feeling substantial and sleek. I like it. The concealer comes with a flat doe foot-like applicator, which is very soft, and works well if using under they eye.
Here, you can see the separation that is happening within the tube. This happened immediately after opening them. There was no contamination of any sort. I don't know if I just happened to get a few wonky ones from a possible bad batch, or if this is something that happens with all of them and is considered normal for this formula?
I'd like to say that the separation doesn't seem to have any effect on the final product, but I'm not really sure, to be honest. I think even just looking at the swatches of each colour, that the lightest shade seems to be the Light to Medium and the Fair is actually darker than the Light to Medium. Medium to Dark isn't very dark either, so I would keep that in mind if you have a darker skin tone and are interested in this concealer.
I've swatched all three shades along with MAC and Maybelline below, so you can maybe get an idea of the tones and where they land in the colour spectrum.
Have you tried the Marcelle Flawless Skin-Fusion Concealer? Did you have any issues with the formula separating in the tube? I'd love to hear if you did or didn't! Hopefully to try and determine if it was just the tubes that I received.
