This product was sent to me, free of charge, by Glam Sense, in exchange for my honest review.**

**However...that review was requested to be provided on the John Frieda website only.  Which, I personally think, is a bit constricting.  I wanted to be able to review the entire line, as thoroughly as possible.  So, here we go!

When I received the email from Glam Sense that I was accepted for this campaign...I thought..."Uh Oh..."  When you fill out the questionnaires for campaigns, they're fairly vague on what the products will be.  You'll get general questions on a broad category of product and you'll get the name of the company involved.  Sometimes you can try to sleuth out the questionnaire and try to guess what they might be sending, but it's not always so easy.

There lies the problem.  If I had've known beforehand that I would be receiving this line, I wouldn't have dyed my own hair black two days earlier...  I knew that this type of product just wasn't going to do anything to my freshly dyed black hair, so I had to get creative in ways to test this stuff out.

Also, in all honesty, even if my hair wasn't recently dyed black, given the silicones that are contained in these products, I wouldn't have tested this out on my own hair anyways.  (See ingredients at the end of this post.)

So, I decided to bust out three different colours of human hair extensions that I had on hand, to see what kind of results we'd get.

For all of the following tests, I performed all three steps, as directed, to all test subjects.  All sets of extensions had been previously washed, at a much more previous date, with a clarifying shampoo.  I do that with all of my extensions, as most, if not all, extensions arrive with a coating on them...to give you that "Ooooh, they're soooo smooth and soft!  They're amazing!" reaction.  If you want to do anything to the colour of your new extensions, you need to remove that coating beforehand.

In my first test, I used a sample of 100% Human Hair extensions in a "natural" colour.  They're brown.  Which is the very reason I chose them first.  This line of products was supposed to be designed for brunette hair...However, you can see in the before and after, above, that there was basically zero change in the colour, the deepness and the tone of the hair.  It pretty much looks the same.  Fail.

Ok, the brown failed...big time...so on to red.  These red extensions, again are 100% Remy Human Hair, I had previously dyed them with a mixture of Joico Pink and Orange temporary hair colour.  I did all three steps, and you can see the results above.  What you are seeing, really, is the majority of the Orange temporary dye had washed out of the hair.  Orange being in the red family, is notorious for being the hardest colour to keep in hair.  Don't let that picture deceive, this treatment did not accomplish anything, other than removing some of the orange via washing, leaving behind more of the pink tones.  Fail.

Alrighty...so, in my frustration of this stuff not doing anything so far, I dug out my blonde ombre extensions...why not.  This line is obviously not designed to be used on blonde hair, but it wasn't doing anything impressive so far.  I did all three steps again, and you can see above, the results.  Finally, there is some sort of result.  However, the undertones in this line of products is EXTREMELY ashy.  I knew when applying this to the blonde, what the results were going to be, before I did it.  Ashy brown + yellow blonde = green.  And that's exactly what I got.  As you move this hair around after the treatment, you can definately see the green undertones.  If this were my own hair, this yellow blonde, I would have never applied these products to it.  But, because it's just extensions, it was all good.  I would not suggest using this line of products if you do have ANY yellow undertones in your hair.  It will turn green.

Sooo...with my shifty side-eyes, I grinned at my boyfriend across the room.  I could see the wheels turning in his head as he stared at me, asking "...what...?"  He knew what I was going to ask.  Reluctantly, he agreed to do all three steps on his own hair.  He has naturally dark hair, but it's very much so graying, and I was curious to see if this stuff would do ANYTHING to his hair.  And if, by some magical force, it actually DID do something to his hair, it's temporary and he was REALLY overdue for a hair cut anyways...or at least, that's how I convinced him.

After all three steps, you can see the results on his hair, above.  Or, lack thereof, I should say.  After the steps were complete, and his hair was dry, I hovered over him, squinting my eyes and sifting through hair, trying to see what I could see.  What could I see...?  Not a whole lot.  There was MAYBE a few hairs, here and there, that MIGHT have held on to a teeny tiny hint of pigment...but really...it looked the same.  Needless to say, even the boyfriend wasn't impressed by the time he took, to help out on this experiment.  Especially after hearing what the total cost would have been, to achieve these lack of results.  Fail.

The only thing I managed to accomplish, was to get some conditioner in to his hair, I think, for the first time ever, in his entire life.  His hair felt soft, but that was it.

Now, this line of products might build up colour over time, with multiple uses...but, if you look at the claims on the card provided, (the same picture is provided on the back of the box for the Colour Deepening Treatment), they claim that before and after picture to be "Results after one treatment".  I did not get those kind of magical results after one single treatment in any of my tests.  Not even remotely.  I'd love to know how they got those results...oh wait...I think I might know...

Here's an extremely sad, jaggedy and choppy photoshopped version of the red extensions (above), that I created in about 3 seconds:  Magical.

Sad, horribly photoshopped representation of "Results after one treatment"

     Just sayin'.

Would I recommend this line of products?  I have to be honest.  Absolutely not.  From my own personal testing, these products do not produce the results claimed by the company, whatsoever.  Now, that's not to say, that someone else might not get the results claimed.  Maybe you have to have just the right, exact, hair colour, tone and shade to achieve the claimed results.  I don't know.  But, I wouldn't buy this line of products, personally, ever.  If I were looking to deepen my hair colour, temporarily, I'd kick it old school and pick up a good ol' bottle of dark rinse.  Yep, Fanci-full.  It works, it's always worked, my Grandma told me so.  Have you tried John Frieda's Visibly Deeper products?  Did you get better results?  I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments section!
