ipsy Glam Bag - August 2016
It Cosmetics No-Tug Waterproof Gel Eyeliner (full size: 0.50 g / 0.017 oz.) Regular retail approx. $22.00 USD. I was sent a deluxe sample size of 0.35 g / 0.012 oz. which holds an approx. value of $15.40 USD.
This eyeliner is extremely smooth, very waterproof and very Blacque Jacque Shellacque. It's really black. I haven't fully tested it out yet, as I just received it. I'll have to update.
It Cosmetics can be found in Canada at The Shopping Channel, here. The reviews seemed to be fairly mixed to unfavourable on there for this particular pencil.
Jersey Shore Sun - Mongongo Lip Balm comes in two sizes (standard and large). I was sent the standard size of 4.25 g / 0.15 oz which retails for approx. $10.00 USD. It can be found here.
This lip balm is labelled USDA Organic, which is lovely. It's an extremely smooth formula when you apply it. It's really quite nice, and it does actually feel like it's moisturizing, unlike a lot of "lip balms" that just feel like they're sitting on top of your lips. This particular flavour is in Vanilla Coconut, however, I don't really sense any vanilla when I apply it. Mostly just the coconut scent is there.
It's definitely a nice lip balm.
Formula X Nail Color in the color Dollface (full size: 12 ml / 0.4 fl. oz.) Regular retail value $13.00 CAD. I was sent a deluxe sample size of 4 ml / 0.13 fl. oz which has an approx. value of $4.33 CAD.
In the swatch above, it took 3 coats to achieve a non-streaky finish. This colour is on the sheer side, but the formula is thick. However, making a judgement based on a sample size isn't really fair either, as the polish brush is bound to be tiny in comparison to the full size bottle, making difficult to apply. Have you used the full size in this colour? Please share your experience with us in the comment section!
Formula X can be found at Sephora here.
Cover | FX Illuminating Primer. The full size (1 fl. oz. / 30 ml) retails for approx. $44.00 CAD. I was sent 0.16 fl. oz. / 5 ml which holds an approx. value of $7.33 CAD.
When swatching this primer, the mica contained isn't overwhelming. It does give a beautiful "illumination" to the skin, but not in a glittery-BAM! way. It just makes the skin glowy subtly. It seems like it'll be lovely, even on my combination/oily skin. I'll have to try it out and let you know.
Cover | FX Illuminating Primer seems to be exclusive to Sephora. It can be found here.
it Haircare 12-in-One Amazing Leave in Treatment. I was sent a sample size of 3.4 fl. oz. / 100 ml......However, I can't find this specific version of product on their website. What I find over there is what is labelled the same, but it's a spray bottle. What was sent to us, is a "conditioner" type of texture, not a spray at all. So, assuming it holds the same value, the spray, travel-sized, version (3.4 fl. oz. / 100 ml) retails for $5.99 USD.
I have not yet tried this product, so I can't yet speak to it's title. But I can say that it smells amazing.
The spray travel size version can be found here.
The August Ipsy Glam Bag (2016) has a total approximate retail value of $52.04 CAD (after current conversion rates). In Canada, Ipsy cost's approx. $19.23 CAD after shipping and conversion. It can be hit and miss, $$$ wise, but in the end, it's mostly about whether or not you would actually use the products sent to you.
For myself, beauty subscriptions are more about discovering and trying out new brands or products that I might not have come across on my own.
Did you receive Ipsy Glam Bag for August 2016? I'd love to hear your thoughts on it!
