When these palettes first came out, I gave them the side eye.  At $17.00 CAD each, I was skeptical, worried if I bought them they might suck, but curious at the same time.  Particularly with the The Nudes palette.  I'm a sucker for brown shades, so immediately my eye was drawn to this one.  When I found them on sale, I figured, I might as well get them and just see.

Turns out, I was wrong in standing in the drugstore, giving these palettes the side eye that day.

I did purchase these palettes for only $10.99 CAD each, but if I had've paid the full price, I wouldn't have been disappointed. These lip colours are lovely.  The texture is creamy but not overly slippery.  Just creamy enough so that their comfort level on the lips is good.  They have great pigmentation, which is mainly why I was skeptical.  Lip palettes tend to lack in the pigmentation department.

Having lip colours in a palette isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I like them in palette form.  I prefer applying lipsticks with a brush vs straight from a bullet.  I find you get better control of both placement and of thickness of application.  You can create a much more natural looking lip with a brush as well.  However, in a lip palette, it will naturally be less portable.  You'd have to bring the palette, plus a brush and have some sort of mirror on hand as well.  Which could be a downside, but for some, that's a normal "what's in my purse" day anyways.

Each palette contains 6 x 1.4 g of product and at regular retail price, that makes each pan $2.83 CAD a piece.  An average lipstick size is generally around 3g to 4g ish, give or take.  It's not an extortionate price, but it's definitely a nicer price if you can find these palettes on sale, of course.

I think these palettes are great, and it's fun to play around with mixing shades and tones to create your own custom lip colours.

Have you tried out any of these lip palettes from NYX?  What did you think of them?
