ANNABELLE MARIE-MAI MAKE UP BAG (LIMITED EDITION)
I spotted this at one of my local Shoppers Drug Mart's while on the hunt for Holiday gift sets. The tag that comes on the cardboard sleeve states $19.95 -> Value of $49.75 (Save 29.80), however, the actual SDM price tag stated $21.99 and is labeled "AB XMAS MAKEUP BAG". The discrepancy, I'm guessing, comes from the fact that I live in Alberta, where there is only GST charged in the way of sales taxes. Because of that, I do find that a lot of products will occasionally be marked up in my province. I'd be curious to know if elsewhere in Canada, does this gift set actually retail for $19.95 CAD?
Included in this set is 1 Smokey Nudes Palette, 1 Twist Up Lipstick Crayon, 1 Brow Show Eyebrow Gel, 1 Big Show Lip Shine and 1 Glitterama Liquid Eyeliner...although, when I got home and opened my set, there were two Twist Up Lipsticks inside. I do not know if that was a manufacturer mistake or if someone, before me, had handled the gift set and placed another inside.
Annabelle's Big Show Lip Shine is, by far, my absolute favourite lip gloss of all time. I'm not big on, pretty much, all lip glosses. I find either you're a lip gloss girl...or you're not. I'm not...however, I am glad to have tried out this formula a few years ago, because I love it. Zero stickiness, extremely comfortable, shiny, pretty...I could go on. This colour is no exception, it's exactly the formula that I expect from Big Show. This came in the colour Whisper, and I'd say that's the perfect name for it. It's a very soft pink that seems almost icy, yet pulls warm at the same time and has an almost shift of peach to it with micro sparkles that you can never, ever feel on your lips, but they sparkle enough to give the gloss that bit of extra dimension. This colour is really unique, for myself anyways. Lip Shines retail regularly for approximately $9.95 CAD.
Smokey Nudes Eyeshadow Palette comes with 10 eyeshadows that range from warm to cool/neutral. This is a palette that I had never picked up, until this set. I've seen it quite a few times, in store, but never bit the bullet. I find that this palette actually pulls a bit too cool toned for my personal preference. These types of cool tones can look muddy on me at times, so I have to be careful with how I place them. Preferences aside, this palette is quite nice. The pigmentation is there, but with that, comes a bit of fallout as well. I was initially exited, when I did see that Annabelle had released this palette awhile ago, as I don't normally associate Annabelle with palettes for the most part. So, I'm hoping that they continue with producing palettes, and maybe releasing some different tones as well. A fully warmed toned palette, or jewel toned/warm purples, pinks type of palette...I'd be all over that in an instant! Smokey Nudes Palette regularly retails for approximately $12.95 CAD.
Brow Show Eyebrow Shaping Gel came in the colour Light | Medium. This shade pulls fairly cool toned, which I was glad to see. I do wish Annabelle would release a brow gel with fibre's in it, though. Maybe one day. I find this formula a little too wet for my taste. Making it difficult to actually "shape" my sad stick straight brows that tend to do whatever they want. This formula also dries to a very soft, non-crunchy finish. Which is good if that's your jam, but it's not mine. I want the crunch and stiffness, just because I need that sort of hold in order to actually shape and control my brow hair. However, if you prefer a softer hold and maybe don't need full on cement to hold/control your brows, you might really like this formula. It's pigment is also really nice. Pigmented enough to show up on my 1B hair. Brow Show Shaping Gel regularly retails for approximately $7.95 CAD.
Twist Up Retractable Lipstick Crayon's...love these. Very comfortable to wear, though, I prefer to use a lip liner with them. They come in a full range of very pretty shades, pinks, reds, neutrals, naturals...one of the nicer lipstick crayon forumla's available at a drugstore price point. Twist Up Lipsticks retail regularly for approximately $9.95 CAD.
Glitterama Liquid Eyeliner. It's a glitter liner, not sure what else to say about it. The formula is very good. Dries down and doesn't move. Which is all that I look for in a glitter liner. Comes with a very thin brush applicator and the formula feels cold and can also feel extremely tickly, especially if applying it towards the inner corner of the eye. It came in the colour Solar Flare in this set. It's gold. It's very gold. According to Annabelle's website, it also comes in three other colours. Glitterama retails regularly for approximately $8.95 CAD.
Overall, this is a great little set. To gift, to keep for yourself, to break up in to separate gifts...either way, the value is there. I didn't have any of the items, or colours of, that were in here, so that was the main reason I picked it up for myself and I'm happy that I did. Everything in here will get put to good use.
I did pick mine up at Shoppers, I'm guessing you'd probably, maybe, see it at places like London Drugs and Wal-Mart etc...across Canada, wherever Annabelle is sold near you. But, I'm not 100% positive on that. Have you picked this set up? Where did you purchase yours?
