ESTEE LAUDER - REAL CHEEKY - PURE COLOR ENVY BLUSH & CONTOUR KIT (Holiday 2016)
Estee Lauder describes this set as follows:
Everything you need to blush, highlight and contour in one perfect palette. This must-have stocking stuffer includes 6 Pure Color Envy Sculpting Blush shades. This blush kit retails for approximately $42.00 CAD and has a NET WT. .17 OZ. / 5g each.
The 6 Pure Color Envy shades included are: 410 Rebel Rose, 320 Lover's Blush, 240 Pink Ingenue, 27 Luminizer (Limited Edition), 28 Rosy Glow (Limited Edition) and 29 Sculpting Bronzer (Limited Edition).
Real Cheeky comes housed in a red, round cardboard box with adorable black and white polka dot trim. In the back of the kit you get a card that has a step by step on how to get two different looks with this set on either side of the card. Which may or may not be useful.
While I do think this packaging is cute...and it would make for nice presentation as a gift...in the end, the packaging just doesn't lend itself to being even remotely practical once the initial wow factor has worn off. It's bulky and clunky and if one were to want to use this set often, removing the round top every time would just become a hindrance and you'd most likely not bother to reach for it.
Because of it's bulky size, storage could become an issue as well. Everything inside of the round box is glued down, so it's going to take a bit of work to get the pans out, without damaging them. Once you do get the inside tray out of the box, you'll find all of the pans of blush/contour glued down to your basic, non-recyclable, plastic. What you're left with, after all of that, is an empty round cardboard box, that could have been a cute re-usable box...that's if all the glue didn't rip up most of the inside leaving you with an ugly mess. Plus, the cut-out circles on the lid of the box, while cute for presentation...not so much if you wanted to re-use the box. The packaging, gets a big ol' Price Is Right Losing Horn sound effect.
Packaging fail aside...the blush itself is lovely. Pure Color Envy is a build-able blush, there's no worry of applying too much in one swipe, it's just not that kind of blush. When on the skin, it's a beautiful formula. I can't compare them to the full sized pans, however, as I've only ever experienced Pure Color Envy blush/bronzer in gift set form. I would also have to add that I think this set is best suited for lighter to medium skin tones. If you have a deeper skin tone, I don't know if these would be pigmented enough to translate well, sadly. I could be completely wrong on that, though. Let us know down below!
Overall, I'd still recommend this set, whether gifting or gifting to yourself. I'd also recommend taking the time to depot all of these and place them in a Z-palette or any other type of empty palette. This box will get on your nerves. Also, the claims of a "must have stocking stuffer"...I don't know what kind of stockings they have at Estee Lauder, this set is 7" in diameter by almost 2" high. Maybe a really stretchy stocking? Or maybe if you're clever and hung up a pantyhose leg as your stocking.
